How Aviator-style crash games work, round by round

A crash game such as Spribe's Aviator runs in short rounds. You place a bet before take-off, then a multiplier climbs from 1x until the plane flies away at a point fixed before the round began. Cash out in time and you get your stake times the multiplier shown; stay in past the crash and the stake is lost.

This guide follows the rules Spribe publishes for Aviator, the game it launched in early 2019. Other crash games use the same basic loop, but details differ, so the rules screen of the game in front of you has the final word. What happens in one round of Aviator?

Spribe's game page describes Aviator as a social multiplayer game built on a rising curve that can crash at any moment. When a round starts, a multiplier begins to grow. You must cash out before the plane flies away.

The rules screen inside the game breaks this into three steps: bet before take-off, watch the multiplier rise as the plane climbs, and cash out before the plane disappears. If the plane flies away while your bet is still open, that bet is lost.

One Aviator round, stage by stage, as Spribe's in-game rules describe it
StageWhat you can doWhat the rules say
Before take-offChoose a stake and press Bet, or press Cancel to take it backA bet can be cancelled while the round has not yet started
Take-offWatch the multiplier start to moveThe win multiplier starts at 1x and grows as the plane takes off
ClimbPress Cash Out, or let Auto Cash Out act at your targetThe win is the bet multiplied by the cash-out multiplier
Fly-away (the crash)Nothing: any bet still open is settled as lostA bet not cashed out before the plane flies away is lost

Placing a bet, or two, before take-off

You choose an amount and press the Bet button. The plus and minus buttons change the amount, or you can pick a preset value or type a figure in. Until the round starts, the Cancel button takes the bet back.

Aviator lets you hold two bets in the same round. A second bet panel opens when you press the plus icon in the top right corner of the first panel. Each panel has its own stake and its own cash-out, so the two bets can end at different multipliers.

The game menu also has a Limits button showing the minimum bet, the maximum bet and the maximum win. Spribe's rules add that the game cashes out automatically once a win reaches that maximum.

Kenyan law sets a floor of its own. Section 71(1) of the Gambling Control Act, 2025 forbids an online bet of less than twenty shillings, and section 71(3) makes it an offence for an operator to accept one. So a licensed site should not take a stake below KES 20.

How the multiplier turns into a payout

The payout is the stake times the multiplier at the moment you cash out. That figure already includes the stake, so the profit is the payout minus what you put in. A crash before you cash out pays nothing on that bet.

Illustrative example: a KES 100 bet cashed out at 1.80x returns KES 180, a profit of KES 80. The same bet cashed out at 3.20x returns KES 320. If the plane flies away at 1.50x while the bet is open, the KES 100 is gone.

The rules also say the speed of the climb varies, and they give a formula for it on the rules screen. For the word itself, see what a multiplier means in a crash game.

Cashing out by hand or with Auto Cash Out

Pressing Cash Out during the climb settles the bet at the multiplier on screen at that instant. Auto Cash Out does the same job without a click. You find it on the Auto tab of each bet panel, switch it on and enter a multiplier.

Once it is on, the bet is cashed out automatically when the climb reaches the figure you entered. If the plane flies away first, the bet is lost in the normal way. The difference between the two methods is set out in what cash out means, manual and automatic.

One edge case is written into the rules. If the plane flies away exactly at your Auto Cash Out multiplier, the round counts as a loss. Spribe's own example: a crash shown as 1.25x means the multiplier reached 1.24x and then crashed, so an Auto Cash Out set at 1.25x loses.

Auto Bet and Auto Play: what they automate

Auto Bet is a checkbox on the Auto tab. With it ticked, the game places your bet every round, but you still press Cash Out yourself unless Auto Cash Out is also on. The two settings work separately.

Auto Play repeats your bet for a number of rounds you pick from the options offered. You can add stop conditions: stop if the balance falls by a set amount, stop if it rises by a set amount, or stop if a single win exceeds a set amount. The Stop button ends Auto Play at any time.

These tools change how often you click, not the arithmetic of a round. Under the standard crash model every cash-out target returns the same share of stakes on average, which is worked through in auto cash-out targets and their expected value.

Who decides where the round ends?

The game does, before the plane leaves. Spribe's rules state that before each round its provably fair random number generator produces the multiplier at which the plane will fly away. Your Cash Out decides how much of the climb you collect, not where the climb stops.

The provably fair notes in the game explain the inputs. The operator's server seed is hashed and shown before the round, then merged with client seeds from the first three players to bet, and a SHA512 hash of the merged seeds gives the result. How to read those seeds is covered in server seeds and client seeds explained.

Kenyan regulation adds an outside check. Regulation 45(2) of the Gambling Control (Conduct of Gambling Operations) Regulations, 2026 requires the random number generator for every game of chance to be certified by the Authority or its approved agent. Regulation 45(1) requires the game rules to be displayed on the platform before any wager is placed.

Live bets, chat and Rain on the screen

Spribe presents Aviator as a social game. The Live Bets panel lists every bet made in the current round, and the Top panel shows statistics such as the biggest wins and the biggest round multipliers. A chat panel lets players talk to one another.

The rules name two sources of free bets: the operator, and the Rain feature, which drops free bets into the chat with a Claim button. The status of any free bets sits under Free Bets in the game menu. What other players win in the Live Bets list belongs to the current round only.

What Kenyan law requires before you play

Section 72(1) of the Gambling Control Act, 2025 lets a person play only if registered with the licensee and holding an account there. Section 72(3) requires proof of age of majority before anyone is registered. Gambling is for adults of the age of majority, which in Kenya is eighteen, and regulation 92 of the Conduct Regulations keeps persons under eighteen out of gambling and its promotion.

Regulation 84 of the same Regulations obliges every licensee to offer daily, weekly and monthly deposit limits, loss and session limits, reality-check pop-ups and self-exclusion for at least 24 hours. The options are listed in limits and self-exclusion for crash games in Kenya.

Questions and answers

Can you place two bets in the same Aviator round?

Yes. Spribe's rules allow two bets at once. You open a second bet panel by pressing the plus icon in the top right corner of the first panel. Each panel carries its own stake and its own cash-out, so one bet can be cashed out early while the other stays in. If the plane flies away before a panel is cashed out, that bet alone is lost.

What happens if the plane crashes exactly at my Auto Cash Out multiplier?

The bet loses. Spribe's rules say a round counts as a loss when the plane flies away exactly at the multiplier set for automatic cash-out. Their example is a crash shown as 1.25x: the multiplier reached 1.24x and then crashed, so a bet set to cash out at 1.25x is lost. The cash-out point has to sit below the crash point to pay.

Does Auto Bet cash out for me?

No. Auto Bet only places the bet each round. Spribe's rules say that with Auto Bet ticked you still press Cash Out in every round yourself, unless Auto Cash Out is also switched on with a target multiplier. Auto Play goes further and repeats bets for a chosen number of rounds, with optional stop conditions on balance changes or on a single large win.

Is the crash point decided before the round starts?

Spribe's rules say yes. Before each round, its provably fair random number generator produces the multiplier at which the plane will fly away. The server seed behind it is hashed and shown in advance, then combined with seeds from the first three players to bet. Your clicks during the climb decide only when you leave, not when the round ends.

Can I cancel an Aviator bet after placing it?

Only before the round starts. Spribe's rules say a bet can be cancelled with the Cancel button if the round has not yet started. Once the plane takes off, the only way out of an open bet is to cash out at the current multiplier. If the plane flies away first, the stake is lost and the bet cannot be reversed.

What is the smallest bet allowed on a crash game in Kenya?

Twenty shillings. Section 71(1) of the Gambling Control Act, 2025 says a player in an online gambling activity shall not bet less than twenty shillings, and section 71(3) makes it an offence for an operator to allow a smaller bet. Inside the game, the Limits button in the menu shows the minimum bet, the maximum bet and the maximum win.
